“Strategies for Economic Success” was the theme for this year’s Rural Economic Development Forum at the Truth or Consequences Convention Center held last week in T or C, New Mexico.

One of the biggest highlights of the Forum was the annual Rural Alliance Economic Development Awards presentation on Wednesday April 23rd. The Economic Development Awards winners were:

Technology Based and Electronic Award was given to the Clovis Industrial Development Corporation for their website to promote business development in their community. The website address is www.developclovis.com The Clovis website provides information about the variety of services for companies looking to expand their presence in Clovis and Curry County.

General Purpose Brochure was given to the Greater Belen Economic Development Corporation for their marketing brochure that introduces a prospective companies or an industry to the Greater Belen community.

Special Event Promotions was given to the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce for their special event promoting the Clovis Music Festival. The event was recognized for its “Clovis Rock” marketing campaign which included posters, flyers, t-shirts and giveaways.

Paid Advertisement was given to the San Juan Economic Development Service (SJEDS) explaining the services it provides to San Juan County business community.

Best Targeted Industry/Client Proposal was given to the San Juan Economic Development Service to SJEDS work fighting the pit rules as they were initially proposed by the New Mexico Oil and Conservation District. SJEDS provided packets of information explaining the how and why the proposed regulations would hurt the oil and gas producing industry in San Juan County.

The Rural Alliance Economic Development Awards are state-wide awards that recognize communities for outstanding achievement in New Mexico for economic development marketing and promotion. These awards are also given to encourage and recognize excellence in materials, individuals and organizations.
